Rationale

My rationale for my new scene for Fantastic Mr Fox


When I picked the film Fantastic Mr Fox for my movie to work on this assessment. I Wasn't so sure what really made me want to do this movie but though into it more and I considered the type of style the movie have. Throughout the movie, I had separated some parts of scenes into sections to make it easier to decide what theme to go with in the movie. The speed, movement, characters style and areas that the movie have given us to explore which this made it interesting to look into. I worked around the idea of the main character Mr Fox with his super fast thinking and movement plus the idea of family safety. Throughout the movie, (since he is a fox) he is sneaky and likes to take risks. From one of the scene where he (MrFox) was in his study-room with Kyle to plan a job out, and the battle scene where everyone was underground preparing for battle and it becoming there place of home, I had than thought I could do something for Mr fox where he can still kind of do his secrete job of looking after the neighbourhood from the famers outside from trouble and do his spying as well where MRs Fox disagree on him doing. (But this time, I wanted to make it safe so that if Mrs Fox do finds out, he isn't out there sneaking around but just observing.

I interpreted this idea by having the room hidden where no one knows because the entrance is blended in with the wall in the hallway where a secrete tile will trigger the entrance to go in fast. (This shows the sneaky part of him where no one can see / go in). Inside is neat and rough at the same time coz without the wife cleaning after him, rubbish will be around the place.
Now done with making of my short part of the film area, I released that my scene can be described as either a extended part and or a new scene. But I would now say that it is a new scene since the idea of placing my part in the movie would be at the end. The idea is that at the end of the movie, where the family and Kyle follow Mr Fox to his discovery of an entrance to a supermarket. (From this part, I can imagine the rest of the movie if it continued on that they would be in trouble again when time goes by because of stealing food).  I have placed the secret hidden room in the environment close to the ladder entrance since no one would really thought that there will be a place near a dangerous area. The idea of Mr Fox having ideas with his fast thinking, what ever happens up there he can go and rescue or alert the rest of the underground animals since he can see the outside movements on his found and made objects like security screen, planning maps and the famers hills. To make him think more or energise him when he cant think with spare cider stashed on the side.

I have grounded my scene within the film with a fast speed camera movement. The idea wasn't used in the film at all since they used cut scene where it move one scene to another really fast where it kinda creates a fast connected scene movement from the camera. The perspective of the camera is from the eyes of Mr Fox since I had made my new scene based for him. We are guided by his vision from fast pace to get into his room and than admirer his achievement reward as a writer within his group from his friends where this part I added in to make him feel that his writing for the columns for the papers are being read since at the start of the movie, he questions if anyone even cares about what he writes out. This is a link through one part of the movie that I wanted to have a closure on to make it more interesting and fun with another achievement on his hand.

I chose a nice classical violin piece of music referenced to how Mr Foxed played a similar type of music but with a lot more different instrument playing in the background when Fox was making a speech in the scene of 'A Go-For_Broke Rescue Mission". With the music from the movie then is more of a happy and jumpy feeling but I had made it linked with Fox because of the sneakiness and the achievements he gets out of it. So I had a slowish violin movement piece to match the mood.

These lighting are used to show the starting sense off and different part of the room area.

started with the hidden door which blends in with the long hall from the start.
Trying and thinking that the door would swing half way and we can enter the room either ways.

 Whole layout so far for the room.

The room is over half textured but not showing since texture is showing difficulty and lost. this is a constant problem and time wasting where i have to find file and replace it than drag the text from hypershade to the object/shape. I wished that when One texture was done, everything would reload for everything but that wouldnt happen for my work.

Lighting

Going back to my thoughts on lighting, The part where the mapping is on / rubbish is. I wanted to make a small and satule area lighting just highlighting the corner / the thinking area where it shows the famers place.

From planning and idea before hand, I had planned to make frames to be placed on the wall where it could be pictures of family and friends that are part of the helpers when famers was in attack.

Thinking from my movie, the light is really dull / dim where its not tooo bright.
There are some parts where there is a bit of really lite spot lighting for some important or entrance. 

Since My starting is from the entrance to the supermarket is from the underground, I wanted to make a mini spot lighting showing that there is somewhere else to go where the ladder is.

Objects could be in the room

Since the room in for Mr Fox, He is messy and fast and carless. I wanted to have objects where it can be rubbish to us but goods for them.

Ideas i can have is 
-Rubbish Bin
-Cans, paper, Bottles
-Mat

Different type of materials for the table / area


To make it more home feeling like even though he is hiding this room and his movement, I wanted to have some picture on the table where the screen is for the security but than it looked sooo full and messy so had to look around the room where I can put it to make it nice with the picture of his wife (mrs Fox and his son)

(Continue notes/writing from above) After working more on the room, I have the thought that I would put more photos up of other main characters that was in the investigation/action if the famers.
Images/ pictures are going to be in photo frames on the wall but will still have to see if it would be placed in the hall way when going towards the room/screen

Bricks

With my underground scene, the am forming it with the walls of bricks and was thinking that i could use an image of bricks as texture or to make my own bricks.
Thinking that if image was to be used, it will be flat and even using bitmat it wouldn't be the same.
Even though it might take a very long time and doing my copy of the same, it will be worth it when it comes together to form as a wall.

Having trouble with texture

When working on maya, texture was a big challenge with my objects since the texture continually disappearing and needing to redoing it or reloading it where i have to go though and do it individually. (This always take heaps of time where it frustrating but am getting used to it)


Tried texture with objects made.


After making a shelf with a section where first aid is very important, I tried the texture/image for it to see how it will look like in my area.

My idea on having the simple red cross on it with a white background is more effective but stands out in the room since the colour wont go with it smoothly, but shows the main place to go if there is any emergency.

Side view - you can still see the texture with the lightening on default.

Starting to think on the layout for my area, I know I wanted to create a hidden room for mr fox where he can relax and do his secret spying and mission away from Mrs Fox where she really disagree with him with his actions.
